Artist Name – Marie Cameron

Marie Cameron is a Los Gatos artist working in narrative painting. Through her various bodies of work, Critical Masses, Birds and Teacups, People in My Neighborhood, Florilegia, All Water is Holy and Fade to White, the artist explores thoughts or stories employing color pattern, symbolism, specific materials and found objects. All her subjects are pulled from her close passions, involvement with the environment, the community and antiques.

Born in New York City, Marie Cameron grew up in the Canadian Maritimes where she earned a BFA with distinction from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, majoring in painting and minoring in sculpture.Early on, she worked in design – Seagull Pewter and illustration – Buddhist Tales (Barefoot Books,1997, 2014) and Clever Katya (Barefoot Books,1998) while continuing to paint and exhibit and was awarded a prestigious Canada Council Explorations Grant in painting. Her work has been shown and collected internationally and even appeared on the cover of The Memento (Doubleday Canada, 2016).

Since moving to California, her work has been on exhibit at the Museo Diocesano di Padova, Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, The Triton Museum of Art, Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art, Ann and Mark’s Art Party, Santa Clara University’s Edward M. Dowd Art Gallery,  Las Laguna Gallery and New Museum Los Gatos and featured in Poets and Artists Magazine. She is a member of Gallery 24 in Los Gatos.
