Lynda MasonMy paintings demonstrate a ride on an existential and emotional roller coaster of dreams. Symbolic childhood imagery, such as carousel horses and candy shops, is often used to represent the imagination of childhood and is juxtaposed with a modern and technological world of loneliness. An example is humorously displayed as children riding carousel horses are sending text messages instead of enjoying the simple pleasures of childhood.

Since I have been drawing and riding horses since childhood, most of my paintings include the presence of horses. They are often depicted among pop culture references to demonstrate the disparity between imaginative individuality and a culture of conformity. This dichotomy between the whimsical dreams of childhood and sometimes disturbing images of the loneliness of adulthood is a common theme in my paintings.

My art is feminine, dark, emotional, and expressionistic with a sense of humor and shows the importance of holding on to one’s inner child and never letting go.
